We are proud to announce a new logo for the Lakes Region Lutheran Church (LRLC)! The LRLC is part of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS). In 1839 German immigrants from Saxony arrived in Missouri seeking a safe place to practice confessional Lutheranism. Missouri was the new frontier of the time. In 1847 they joined with other pastors in Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and New York to form The German Evangelical Lutheran Synod of Missouri, Ohio, and Other States. Eventually the name was shortened to The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.
Today the LRLC seeks to present confessional Lutheranism as an option to the Lakes and White Mountains Region of New Hampshire. It’s the furtherest north of any LCMS church in New Hampshire.
We like the LCMS church because it offers both God’s word and the Sacraments. We also like the rich musical tradition the church has. The small catechism, a framework Martin Luther developed in 1529, is a powerful tool to unlock the power of scripture.
The reliance on scripture as the inerrant word of God, is what inspired the LRLC’s logo. The Holy Bible is represented in the logo on a backdrop of sun and life-giving water in order to utilize the symbolism of the beauty of God’s creation as a physical reminder of his holy word. It also champions bible literacy in conjunction with the peace and harmony associated with lake-life.
